Painting Contractor Serving Dallas, Oregon
Dallas is the Polk County seat, about 45 minutes west of our Woodburn headquarters. We paint homes ranging from historic properties near Dallas City Park to newer subdivisions along Ellendale Avenue, bringing the same full-prep process we use across the valley.
What We Paint in Dallas
Exterior Painting
Full siding prep — pressure washing, scraping, caulking, priming — followed by two coats of Sherwin-Williams exterior paint rated for Pacific Northwest weather.
Interior Painting
Walls, ceilings, trim, and doors. We patch drywall, tape edges, and apply low-VOC Sherwin-Williams paints for a clean finish with minimal odor.

Dallas Homes — From Historic Core to New Growth

Dallas has one of the better-preserved small-town cores in the Willamette Valley. The blocks around Dallas City Park and along Main Street contain homes from the 1890s through the 1930s — many two-story Victorian and craftsman styles with original fir lap siding, decorative gable vents, and wide front porches. The sun exposure on the south and west sides of these homes is intense during summer, and without regular maintenance the wood dries out, checks, and loses its paint bond. We see more heat-related paint failure in Dallas than in Portland or Salem because there is less tree cover to shade the siding.

The areas south of Ellendale Avenue and along Kings Valley Highway saw development through the 1960s and 1970s with single-story ranches and modular homes. Common siding here is T1-11 plywood and some composite panel products that were popular in that era. Many of these homes still have their original single-pane windows with wood frames — the glazing putty dries out and cracks, letting water behind the trim. We replace cracked glazing and recaulk window frames as part of our exterior prep on these properties.

Dallas's newer growth areas — northeast of town along Godsey Road and Ash Street — feature two-story homes built from the 2000s forward with fiber-cement siding. These homes are generally in good structural condition but the factory-applied primer on the siding chalks after a few years of Polk County sun, requiring sanding and a full primer coat before finish paint. Dallas is also home to several apartment complexes and commercial buildings downtown that we service on a rotating maintenance schedule for property managers.

Prep for Dallas's Exposed Valley Position
Dallas sits on the western edge of the Willamette Valley at about 325 feet elevation, with open farmland to the east and the Coast Range foothills to the west. The town gets meaningful sun exposure — hotter and drier in summer than the Portland metro — which causes UV degradation and chalking on south-facing siding. But the winters bring 40+ inches of rain from Pacific fronts funneling through the Van Duzer corridor.
We schedule exterior painting in Dallas from mid-May through early October. The summer heat can push surface temperatures above 90°F on dark-colored siding, which causes paint to dry too fast and lose adhesion. We work the shaded sides of the house during afternoon hours and save sun-exposed walls for morning application when surfaces are cooler.
- UV chalking inspection on south walls
- Glazing putty replacement on wood windows
- Sand heat-checked fir siding smooth
- Caulk thermal expansion gaps at trim
- Bonding primer on sun-degraded surfaces
- Morning application on hot-exposure walls
Why Dallas Homeowners Call Us
45-Minute Drive, No Extra Charge
Dallas is about 45 minutes west on Highway 22. We schedule Dallas projects in multi-day blocks — your estimate includes all travel. No mileage surcharges.
Sun Damage Expertise
Dallas gets more direct sun than Portland or Salem. We know that south-facing walls here fail from UV, not moisture — and we adjust our primer and topcoat selection for UV resistance, not just mildew.
Window Glazing Restoration
Many 1960s Dallas ranches still have original wood-frame windows with cracked glazing putty. We remove old putty, re-glaze, prime the frame, and paint — sealing the whole unit against water intrusion.
Polk County CCB Licensed
Oregon CCB #174196 covers all residential and commercial work in Polk County. Bonded and insured with general liability and workers' comp for every crew member.
Hot-Surface Application Training
Dallas summers push dark siding above 90°F. We train our crew to work sun-exposed walls before 11 a.m. and shaded walls in the afternoon. This prevents skinning, lap marks, and poor adhesion caused by hot-surface painting.
Transparent Written Bids
Every Dallas estimate breaks down prep time, materials, coats, and labor. You can compare our numbers apples-to-apples with any other Polk County contractor.
Painting Questions in Dallas
Common questions from homeowners in Dallas, OR.
What does house painting cost in Dallas, OR?↓
A typical Dallas single-story ranch (1,200–1,600 sq ft of siding) runs $4,500 to $7,000 for full exterior prep and two coats. Historic two-story homes near downtown with detailed trim work run $8,000 to $13,000. We break down material and labor costs in a line-item estimate after our site visit.
What is the best season to paint in Dallas?↓
Mid-May through early October. Dallas summers get hot — surface temperatures on dark siding can exceed 90°F — so we schedule sun-exposed walls for early morning. The shoulder months of May and October work for lighter-colored homes and interior projects.
Are you a licensed painting contractor in Polk County?↓
Yes. Our Oregon CCB license #174196 is valid statewide, covering all residential and commercial work in Polk County. We carry general liability insurance, workers' comp, and a contractor bond as required by Oregon law.
Do Dallas homes from the 1960s need special prep?↓
Yes. The T1-11 plywood and composite siding common on 1960s–1970s Dallas ranches is prone to edge delamination and moisture absorption in the panel grooves. We replace damaged panels, seal all edges, and use a heavy-body acrylic primer to fill the textured surface before topcoating.
How far do you travel to reach Dallas for a painting project?↓
Dallas is about 45 minutes from our Woodburn headquarters, driving west on Highway 22. We serve Dallas regularly and schedule projects there in blocks to minimize travel. There is no extra charge for travel to Dallas or any other city in our service area.
